Ready To Replace Your Cabinets? Here’s How To Get Ready!
These items are things you’ll need to do before we arrive to remove and replace your cabinets. If you need help with these items please let us know.
- Plumbing – You’ll need to turn off the water valves for your sink and confirm that they don’t leak by turning on the faucet handle. After a few minutes there should be no water coming out of the faucet. If the faucet continues to leak then you may need to have your main shut off valve for that faucet replaced by a qualified plumber.
- Electrical – We require any electrical that may be hooked up within your existing cabinetry to be disconnected. This can include disconnecting your garbage disposal (if present), your dishwasher, a water filtration system, exhaust hoods, microwaves, or any hard wired appliances.
- Clear Your Counters and Cupboards – Your counters will need to be completely cleared and everything removed from your cabinets and cupboards.
- Reconnecting – After your new cabinets and counters are installed, you will need all of the plumbing and electrical reconnected. In some cases this might need to be completed by a qualified electrician or plumber. Be aware this would be an additional expense.
Installing Granite or Quartz Countertops?
If granite or quartz countertops are being installed then the cabinets must be installed first. Then the countertops can be templated for the correct corners. Then fabricated and then installed. Typically each of these processes can take a day, so from the initial cabinet installation to your new countertops going in will be a 3 to 4 day period in most cases. Your plumbing and electrical reconnections cannot happen until the counters are installed.
